About Dutton lost his seat

[edit]

"The election itself was historic, with Liberal leader Peter Dutton losing his seat to a Labor MP (the first to do so in the country's history) after leading the party to one of the most decisive election defeats in Australian history. " Did John Howard also lose his seat to a Labour member? I don't think "the first to do so in the country's history" is clear enough. Best wishes. Sheminghui.WU (talk) 07:32, 24 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also,I think maybe you should mention that the National Party leader has said he will seek to restructure the coalition with the Liberal Party. That will be better. Sheminghui.WU (talk) 07:36, 24 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not sure If I'll do it now, but when I first wrote the story they hadn't announced that they were looking at getting back together. I (or someone) should probably add that. TheDowningStreetCat (talk) 23:31, 25 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ok, clarified the statement a bit more. You can change it if it's not clear enough. Also added that Dutton is the first opposition leader to lose his seat in a federal election. TheDowningStreetCat (talk) 23:35, 25 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
OK. For the getting back together, you can read https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05-20/federal-politics-may-20/105311448#live-blog-post-181847

Coalition is looking at reforming

[edit]

A lot of recent news is saying that the parties are getting back together. While the article is dated to before this happened, I'm still not sure if this new info should be included since it would probably require moving the article. Just seems misleading to say that they have only split, especially since it was only published very recently. Would like to know what others think of this. And that article now exists, see Australian Coalition reunited after one week TheDowningStreetCat (talk) 01:53, 29 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
