The whole conception of this story seems to be wrong. The media release linked says: "To underline Australia's dismay at the regime's actions and our concern for the welfare of the Burmese people, the Government will move to implement targeted financial sanctions against regime figures and supporters."

I don't understand how that can be twisted to the headline of "Australian PM rules out economic sanctions against Myanmar"

However, this is my first visit to the site, so I might be missing something.

I think I agree. The title should probably be "Australian PM announces financial restrictions on Myanmar regeime" or something. There is a difference between "financial sanctions" against individuals, and "economic sanctions" against an entire country. I certainly agree that we don't currently have a source for the PM ruling out economic sanctions. - Borofkin 00:19, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
