- 10:12 p.m.: Trucks arrive on scene, ask for a fire chief to respond.

Correction[edit]
I received this e-mail from the facilities director. I wrote to him following the incident last night:
Thanks for your interest. A sprinkler head failed and flooded a crawlspace which dripped to the stables and basement below it. Our review at this point shows that no major mechanical or structural damage occurred, just the costly effort of removing the water and drying out everything. Quick response by Buffalo Fire and Water Dept's helped in limiting damage. A cadre of staff, volunteers and contractors arrived shortly and by noon had dried electrical apparatus enough to return the building to full power. The complex heating plant including the geothermal well system was never affected by the problem or the low over night temperatures.
