Interview with Caloundra player Ethan Galbraith

[edit]

I did an interview with Caloundra player an Ethan Galbraith. Here is the transcript.

Mate, how was that one for you guys?

It was good. Good to get the season off for the win. First half was quality. Second half probably left a bit to be desired, but that's all good. A lot to work on, but yeah, just a great start. Great start.

Were you expecting that much of a lead in the first half?

No, no, it's obviously first game in this league so we don't really know the quality of what we're up against. Starting the game that quickly, it just makes life a lot easier So no, it was surprising but amazing at the same time.

I think it only took you guys a couple of minutes to score that first one.

Yeah, yeah, very fast. It's quality. I love to love to start a game like that.

Was the quality of Brisbane Knights what you expected?

Honestly, I have no idea of the quality of the league. So we went in there expecting the best. And I think we started fast like we wanted to. And we got on top. And once you do that to a team, obviously it makes it hard for them to get back into it. But credit to them. Second half with the man down, they really battled and made it difficult for us. So yeah, credit to them. It's obviously a tough place to come. Travel up the Coast on a weekend. So yeah, credit to them. Good game.

What do you learn from this one for who ever is next?

Honestly just that. We got to play for a whole 90 minutes. We can't just turn up and play 45 minutes and expect to win games. It's not good enough. So that playing a full 90 minutes is a big one.

Who do you have next

I'm pretty sure we have Moreton City Excelsior down there. I think they're a pretty tough team. We'll be up against it next week but looking forward to the challenge.

[question]

They've got a lot of good players in there they've got the two teams there don't they. [TheyÆre a] very good team. So we'll be up against it but ready for it. [WeÆre] loving the challenge.

Are you expecting a good crowd along with you?

Well, I'm sure we have a few travelling. We'll see how we go. Hopefully get a few down. We'll see how we do it. For sure.

[interviewer interaction]

Take a few in the bus with us.

Who stood out for you guys today? I think the boys up front were really good. Obviously, Riley and Buddha, they're setting the standard for us. They're two quality players. So, Buddha's, you know, we're just jumping on Buddha's back. He's giving us a bit of a carry.

[question] He got a goal and a couple of assists. Riley Visona, he came in too. Great free kick, so I think a few boys stood up today. But once again, it was only 45 minutes, so we want to do better than that.

Plenty to work on, yeah. Lots to look forward to.

Anything else?

No, that's it.

Cheers, bud.

Cheers, mate. RockerballAustralia contribs 23:54, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Interview with Brisbane Knights coach Rob Shaw

[edit]

I did an interview with Brisbane Knighrs coach Rob Shaw. Here is the transcript.

Mate, How was that one for the lads?

Started slow. Suffered for it. The first 20 minutes we started off slow. Caught a bit cold. Bit of discipline as well. Ill discipline. Cost us, I think, at that first half. changed shape in the second half, showed, the boys settled, started to play football, a little bit better football. It actually worked in some ways, even the man down. The boys worked hard. It was a bit of a mountain to climb, though, after the first half, but can't fault the effort though from the boys.

ItÆd always a bit hard to come from a four or something.

It certainly was, yeah. Yeah, it's a bit of a mountain to climb from there, but again, can't fault the effort. If we were to put it, literally it was a game of two halves. Second half in more down, you know, we scored, we didn't concede. So, yeah, literally it was a game of two halves.

What was the message at halftime after conceding four?

It was that. It was literally that, as said we start fresh. You know, like, let's keep our heads high. We knew that we got caught cold at the start, changed our shape. Felt we were getting a little bit overrun in the middle, so hence way out to change the shape. Plus we were a man down. We knew we're going to be sitting in our half or camped in our half for the bulk of the second period. However having said that, we play some good football. Our short game was good, certainly in the second half. Just a little bit of you know quality sort of tied off but then we put it down to, you know, down a man, tired legs.

So who do you have next week?

Good question. I'm literally taking it one game at a time, but all knows we've got a home game next week. We haven't looked at who's next. We'll just take it one game at a time at this stage.

[question]

We changed our shape a couple times during the game and we found it, we found a good balance. We also are missing a couple of players as well, so it limited our options. Not too much though, like the boys are pretty good, pretty flexible. We've asked a couple of play out of their natural shape or natural position, but they certainly adapted well.

I always got to see guys adapting where you need them to?

Certainly is, yeah. As a coach, it's always a blessing when you've got players that can play multiple positions. You don't need to talk too much about it, and they understand the shape, they understand that sort of basic principles of every position on the field so yeah that's nice.

[question about Caloundra]

Really good as in they came out the blocks really fast, really sharp and, as I said, I think we were a little bit uh a bit cold. They're good because it looks like they played together a while. They kind of celebrated every little thing that went on, celebrated  winning a throw-ins, any free kick. So they were very quick out of there, course, it's a bit cold, but, yeah, I thought the first 20 minutes, they would definitely kind of deserve their lead, I think. But I felt as we got into the game, I felt that we were, you know, certainly the better team, played the better football, but again, it was a big mountain to clime.

Anything else?

No, just, it's a shame to travel this far and not come away with anything. However, there was some positives in that second half, and so we'll take away the positives, we'll learn from that and we'll press on.

Cheers.

Thank you. RockerballAustralia contribs 00:07, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
