Not quite a neutral point of view. Seems to be somewhat anti-China, with insinuations about their motives, etc. I think their role in the region can be explained without using words like "thwart".

What is Taiwan's role in this? It's one of the most important asian economies and its ambiguous status as a nation is a key factor in regional stability, given the adversarial positions now taken by S. Korea, China and Japan.

Taiwan's pro-independence government a few years ago encouraged Taiwanese businessmen to invest in Southeast Asia instead of mainland China. But apparently this time Taiwan is still not allowed to participate in the "10+3" summit nor negotiating any deals with ASEAN, who does not want to offend China over the issue of Taiwan.--Ernest 08:40, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
