This is an editorial. Please move it to your userspace, or ask for some help in trying to grab any information in creating a NPOV article. Thanks. --MrMiscellanious (talk) (contribs) 23:30, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Maybe its best to just cut&paste to the talk page & let the original author continue? You got him rolling. So assuming he comes back, hopefully he'll figure it out a bit easier this way. Nyarlathotep 21:30, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Removed editorial pagraphraphs:

Many Jewish and Islamic worshipers are also starting to ask for the re-instatement of "Christmas" in many retailers' advertisements and greetings. Some reasons are worry for themselves: several Jews belive that if the Christians are being persecuted, what will happen to the Jews? Muslims are worried about some of their own holiday demands. Also, the Muslims do follow Christian holidays, and some say they would prefer Jesus over Santa.

Do the Christian supporters really have right on their side? It depends on how you look at it. They say that it is discrimination against Christians. After all, they say, in India no one would be upset if there was a Mohammed festival. You could argue that the majority of Americans are not Christian, but according to the US Census, 77% of Americans are Christians. The deciding factor could be the sentiment of public opinion.

Maybe: Falwell calls for boycott of Target over use if the phrase 'Happy Holidays' ? Nyarlathotep 21:32, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Eh, that'd be kinda shady, since he is more concerned (at least, as he says) about the exclusion of "Merry Christmas"... but definitely, the article's title needs to be changed. --MrMiscellaniousMerry Christmas04:10, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I see your point, but he's objecting to the switching of the phrases, so ideally it should contian both. It might suck, but we could try "Falwell called for boycott of stores saying 'Happy Holidays' in place of 'Merry Christmas'". I donno.. Nyarlathotep 04:48, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I like that title (a little long, but gives good context). Changing... --MrMiscellaniousHappy Hanukkah05:01, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Who is Falwell? More information needs to be given in the title for a global audience.

Happy Holidays (from Google)

[edit]

Considering that this year Christmas day "kicks off" the "holiday season" with the 12 days of the Greek & Cretan Christmas, the 8 days of Chanukkah, and Kwanzaa, Google's logo on Christmas day generically displayed "Happy Holidays" - usually they're more specific, changing their logo daily - but this year, after Christmas day, it's back to the generic Google logo. Anyone know the story behind that?

Personally, the vague "Happy Holidays" well-wishing doesn't bother me especally in light of the proximity of the holidays this year, but not being able to be specific (as Google has been in the past) seems to contribute to the general ignorance of the population. Oh well, that just makes actual information (knowing who to wish what when) all the more valuable. Karen 07:54, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

That kinda sucks. I love the cool new logo's. Uncyclopedia had a nice christmas one this year. Bawolff ☺☻ 08:00, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
