Talk:German beer company Eichbaum issues public apology for printing Saudi Arabian flag on beer bottle caps
Concerns[edit]
In the second paragraph, who are the people on social media? Are they authority figures? Are they religious scholars? Are they just random people on Twitter or what? If so, how were they chosen and why is their opinion significant? I linked the policy in the text next to they concerning sentences. --SVTCobra 19:13, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- People on social media are just the people. Do we say who participated in "March against abortion" in Ireland? I have mentioned alcohol is considered haraam, and banned in KSA, and what the shahada means, and the "opinions" which really matters, the embassy's is mentioned in the article -- when something is condemned on the internet, everybody is treated equally online by these companies for maintaining their brand, and it is because of those unnamed common people that company decided to issue a public apology. Again, when people protesting in the US held banners saying "Trump not my president", did we answer who they were?
•–• 19:30, 13 May 2018 (UTC)- The only difference is, the first three sentences of that paragraph literally tells: alcohol is against Islamic belief, but again, saying in Wikinews' words may be frowned upon -- sometimes even the obvious needs to be mentioned, and that too, in a way that it does not sound or feel dumbed down.
•–• 19:40, 13 May 2018 (UTC)- Problematic. There are enough people on the internet that almost anything one can imagine is being said by someone. We can't take something out of our own voice by ascribing it to someone anonymous. --Pi zero (talk) 19:53, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- I didn't read the sources. Can it be attributed? Like, "According to XYZ News, thousands of people tweeted at the brewery ..." or "A hashtag was started that reached trending on Twitter". There needs to be something. Right now, it is a textbook example of what the policy does not allow. --SVTCobra 20:02, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Interestingly, another submission from the same author has exactly the correct way of dealing with this matter of people on social media as seen in Sudanese teenager sentenced to death for killing husband while raping her. --SVTCobra 04:22, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
