Farmers/opposition parties

[edit]

@2006nishan178713: Apologies, I've been busy with stuff lately and so have not been able to get to Wikinews. I have begun reviewing this article, and while I'm fairly pleased with it, there are just some issues that need to be addressed first. Instead of using terms such as "farmers" and "opposition parties", would you be able to specify specific farmers' groups or specific farmers' advocates, as well as specific political parties? That's all for now, but I do really appreciate the work you've been putting in and I hope this article can be published :) --LivelyRatification (talk) 23:29, 21 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree, personal life can always get in the way. Anyways, the "opposition parties" issues have been fixed. But specifying farmers' groups or advocates might not be possible, as no information regarding those things are present. The major group is the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Indian Farmers Union), which is already specified and for 'advocates', Rakesh Tikait is mentioned (as no other information available). Neutrally speaking, there are no political parties involved in the protests. Indian National Congress has been added in place of just 'opposition parties', specifying the political party who said the quote added. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 03:04, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Final translation

[edit]

@2006nishan178713: One last thing - it'd be best to have the entire last sentence either in English or, where transliterated from Hindu, with an English translation in the source. I would suggest replacing that with simply the translated quotes that have been provided in the articles. I would do this myself, but I do not wish to disqualify myself from reviewing this. --LivelyRatification (talk) 05:31, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The words "satyagraha" and "annadata" have changed to their appropriate English translations. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 06:01, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
This is the source of the quote, https://twitter.com/RahulGandhi/status/1461550273185255424
It's in Hindi. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 06:05, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@2006nishan178713: I wasn't asking for an English translation of those words - apologies for the confusion. I was asking for the phrases that contained Hindu transliteration without translation into English in the sources to be replaced. The Scroll source appears to have translated "annadata" to farmers, so I would suggest quoting that directly, but excluding "satyagraha" from the article as it has not been translated by any source.
