Some thoughts[edit]

  1. There is no mention "when" the announcement was made. Without answering "when?" freshness can not be established.
  2. The headline suggests the focus of the article is naming a railway station after US president, however, the first tow lines of the article speaks about extending the railway and where will it be built. If it is the background information, leave it for the next paragraphs, not in the lede.

@De Wikischim: can you quickly make those changes so that I can review it, because without answering when that happened, I would have to mark it not ready.

I'd need a bigger pile of time to actually review this, but here are some first impressions.

  • On a quick look-over, it appears that the statement at the start of the lede is not readily supported by the sources, and may even be false: was the suggestion of the extension only made on Wedesday, as the lede says, or was only the suggestion of naming a station after Trump?
  • I'm concerned about this from a neutrality perspective, that it may be concealing the Palestinian perspective on the story. I see no sources listed that would be especially likely to do that justice, although the ABC source at least alludes to it.
  • The lede looks overly long and detailed. Details should be in some later paragraph.

I still don't quite get it, I think. It is some important context for the news item as such. Or is there an earlier news item here on Wikinews about the plans for the extension when they first became known? Then that article can be linked from this one. Do you mean the project should already be ongoing now? At least one of the sources mentions this, and it is in the article itself too ("initial stages"). What is the issue here exactly? @De Wikischim: Nothing deep, and it appears to have already been addressed. At the time I made the remark, the first sentence of the article said that on Wednesday, Yisrael Katz suggested extending the line to the Western Wall. Which I observed was not the focus of the headline and also suspected might not be true.  note on newsworthiness: @De Wikischim:, I was under the impression this event took place on Wednesday, and was still fresh until tomorrow. But The Guardian says, “The Kotel [Western Wall] is the holiest place to the Jewish people, and I have decided to name the train station leading to it after US President Donald Trump, in recognition of his brave and historic decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital,” Katz said on Tuesday. The one who wrote "Yesterday, he told Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper" did not verify it and that means we lost the article.

  2. Could not find the instance of 70 years of US foreign policy.
  3. Freshness issue, because The Guardian claims he said on Tuesday, without attribution, while the other source attributes and says it happened on Wednesday. The current lede helps establishing freshness. After all, the article really does not have "new" information -- not even the sources, much like a obituary.
  4. Consider using the currency used in the country which the article is about.
