Not sure if this counts, strictly speaking, but I messaged the Facebook page for Unite the Union at 16/05/2015 23:55. I said this:

"Hello Unite. I'm writing an article for Wikinews about Jim Murphy's resignation as Scottish Labour Party leader. Could I possibly get any comment from Unite the Union and/or Len McCluskey regarding Murphy's resignation? Does the union, McCluskey or Pat Rafferty have any comment to make about what they believe the new party leader should or should not be doing? Your cooperation on this matter would be appreciated."

No response at the time of writing but will update if this changes. --Rayboy8 (talk) (contributions) 23:01, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I got a response at 9.55am BST today from Unite. They referred me to this press release [1], which is about their call for Murphy to resign on 14th May, rather than a kind of reaction to his resignation. Therefore, I don't think it would be necessary to edit the article at this late stage, unless I should say that was referred to that statement? --Rayboy8 (talk) (contributions) 09:07, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rayboy8: We're beyond the 24-hour horizon since publication, so we couldn't make a substantive addition anyway; if they'd actually said something newsworthy in itself we could have done a fresh article. I doubt they'd say anything newsworthy to us anyway; they're too PR-oriented. (As for the press release being pre-resignation, maybe they provided it for the contact numbers.) --Pi zero (talk) 11:06, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
