Talk:Musical performance presented by Striped Light in Long Island City, New York showcases four performers
Add topicOriginal Reporting notes
[edit]I attended the event but other than the acts which I've provided photographic evidence for, I don't think are any further notes of relevance that I can provide. However, I will note that there is a wealth of biographical information about the performers in the primary source and secondary sources, and wonder if it might be worth including those. - Striped Light. John King & Leyya Mona Tawil / Jack Langdon / Jennifer Gersten — Withfriends Events, unknown
- Unknown will this effect the article? @Tduk BigKrow (talk) 17:19, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Tduk: What venue was this event held at? --Metropolitan90 (talk) 20:46, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- If you look on the invite they do not disclose the location, and I am honoring that. This series is not always at the same place. Tduk (talk) 21:09, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- I think you should at least indicate what kind of location it was held at. Something like this, perhaps? "The performance was sponsored by the arts organization Striped Light and held in a [bar/gallery/private home/etc.]" --Metropolitan90 (talk) 06:18, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- The event took place in Long Island City (LIC), Queens, New York. It was a private or house venue show (exact address shared via DM for attendees), near the 39th Ave subway stop on the N/W lines.

- Did a quick check on Grok A.I. BigKrow (talk) 13:20, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- That is not quite accurate, and giving the type of space _and_ the location (which is public) may be too much in my opinion. I feel like given things like the recent incident at Wikiconference North America it is a good idea to respect the fact that they don't want the location details out there and prefer you contact them. suggestions
[edit]minor changes requested listed below
1. people - how many people gathered. roughly
2. spell out '3' as 'three'
3. specify who organised this and why. is this to showcase local performer. or what was the objective. was any fundraising involved.
4. specify time of day
5. place was unclear. the thing linked appears like a suburb. did they gather in a pub, a library, or what was the venue - either its name or a description.
6. if recurring event, specify how often they usually gather, somewhere towards end of page.
i think it would make it clearer what happened to an average reader
hope this helps Gryllida 22:11, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- I think I did all you asked, though I couldn't find where "3" was. Do you think we should pull in any of the biographical info from the primary event source? Tduk (talk) 04:22, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- "at an undisclosed location" with you as photographer. where did you take the photos, then, exactly? Gryllida (talk) 04:47, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Or is there a reason why the location remains undisclosed? Such as, persecution, legal problems, or something else that makes secrecy necessary? Wikiwide (talk) 10:42, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- I discussed this above also that I want to respect the privacy that the organizers asked for. That includes discussing the why; but remember the recent gunman at a wikiconference in new york for instance. Tduk (talk) 14:43, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

- Just FYI; the secrecy behind the location is addressed by one of the sources:[1]
Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 16:18, 28 February 2026 (UTC)Striped Light’s stealth is due to landlord issues, according to Watson. It embodies the now-tenuous Brooklyn spirit of DIY in Queens, harking back to an age not even fifteen years ago when avant-gardistes would bolt-cutter their way into warehouses on the Williamsburg waterfront to blast their noisiest experiments.

Revision 4990617 of this article has been reviewed by Michael.C.Wright (talk · contribs) and has passed its review at 15:57, February 28, 2026 (UTC) with the following exceptions:
Comments by reviewer: WN:OR requires:
Several statements in the article, such as which artists performed, the order of the sets, and how the performances unfolded, are clearly matters of direct observation and are appropriate for original reporting. However, claims such as “Gersten and King are currently based in New York” do not appear in the cited sources and are not inherently observable facts from the performance itself. If such information was announced during the event and is being included as original reporting, it must be documented in the reporter’s notes on the article’s discussion page so it can be verified. I removed such unverified statements that were also not in direct support of the WN:5Ws. Image captions are generally written as full, descriptive sentences (see Wikinews:Style guide#Image captions). If you’d like, feel free to adjust the captions within the 72-hour post-publication window. See the edit history for all changes made during the review. Note: An exception was made for the Style guide. Contributors are encouraged to correct all Style guide issues within the next 72 hours. The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer. |

- Hi Tduk, were did the claim “Gersten and King are currently based in New York” come from?
- The reviewer deleted it when publishing, but if there is a clear and sufficient note where it came from, then this and the similar claims may be re-added. Gryllida (talk) 22:42, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- Policy and precedent do not support adding sources after an article has been published—and notes are considered a source.
