I'm moving to Canada! NZ is totally the opposite of this common-sense decision. Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 22:33, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Really, I think its horrible. If I want to vote naked, I should be able to do that. If I want to vote dressed up as the wikimedia logo, I want to be able to do that too, etc. As long as you have ID I don't really see the problem here. Everyone has the right to vote (article 3 of The Canadian charter of rights and freedomes), if someone feels that it would be unmodest (I don't understand why, but I would assume that is why people would wear such garments) to not wear one well voting, they might not vote, which would undermine the whole system of voting. Agreed. The way I see it however, is when it comes time to vote, the officers should be able to see your face (to check off the ID, or to make sure you are not a shady person, perhaps if they could remove it just for the quick check, then it would be fine. What annoys me, in this PC society we live in, I can't criticise their religion, but they can damn well criticise mine (Christian) religion. Also NZ is different, we don't have ID's (bigbrother?) here for voting, we just turn up, and they cross your name off the roll. Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 23:01, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Here in Canada, if you don't have a voting card, you are reqired to use your ID or bring in a water bill, etc to verify that you are a Canadian citizen. Why doesn't NZ do that? FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 23:57, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps we are more trusting here :) If you know your name and address that’s normally good enough, (you only need to identify yourself, if asked, or if you vote outside your Electorate. Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 01:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I also agree with Bawolff. Mommy: Can I dress up as spider-man when going to the polls today? Sure son, Canada is a free country! FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 23:57, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Do you consider women second class citizens?[edit]

If we're going to discuss the issue, we have to ask why do many Muslims believe that women should cover themselves and hide their beauty? I've seen them shopping in Harrods, they probably spend the GDP of a small country in the lingerie section but because someone might look at them funny they're not allowed anything sexy to go on top of the underwear. --Brian McNeil / talk 23:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
