An article about the Konstantin battery (where the event took place) is on Wikipedia, but there is no English translation. — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 12:32, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Heavy Water, The category "Sevastopol" (now defunct) may be needed in the future: perhaps I will replenish it. — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 18:11, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If there are three published articles (which will include this article soon) about Sevastopol it can be created. @Виктор Пинчук, please use the talk page instead of making edits to the article when it is tagged as {{under review}} to avoid confusion about the review and edit conflicts. @Heavy Water: Ok, I will be use the talk page instead of making edits to the article, but I have some questions.
Why was the quote from the chairman of the Russian Geographical Society deleted? (There is a Russian-language video confirming the text).
Why was the link to the "Republic of Crimea" article page deleted? It provides additional reasoning and evidence.
The phrase in parentheses [Pinchuk was then employed by the Republic of Crimea] could be understood differently, although, in this case, it is a newspaper. — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 05:47, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
1. I removed the quote because in the video I understood him to be saying something quite different from "is a productive example of achieving a goal, proving that, if desired, an idea can be realized with very modest self-financing and no special physical training", and without that part, the sentence is pointless.
2. The page you linked to provides no context about the newspaper itself, it lists the articles in your column for Republic of Crimea. We could provide it as a sister link, but when English Wikinews links something in an article's body, the reader expects to find a description of that thing.
3. While it is italicized, you have a point. I added "newspaper" inside the brackets. Heavy Water (talk) 16:15, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
1)The text of the RGO Chairman's quote begins at the 50th second of the video and is exactly as follows: «Экспедиция 2013 года в Папуа – Новую Гвинею, проект единственного участника, спонтанно преодолевшего полугодовой маршрут — результативный пример достижения цели, доказывающий, что при желании можно воплотить в жизнь идею, имея весьма скромное самофинансирование и отсутствие специальной физической подготовки».
2)The newspaper was socio-political, its focus and content had nothing to do with travel and the column that I led. Ok, let it be at least in related links.— Виктор Пинчук (talk) 19:52, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
1. That checks out; I have added it back. Note I have a rudimentary understanding of Russian, which is supplemented by dictionaries, etc. 2. I have added this as a sister link. Heavy Water (talk) 22:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Returning from distant wanderings (rubric in the newspaper "Republic of Crimea") is not a valid link to Wikibooks. SVTCobra 22:55, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I ran the quote through Google Translate and sighted. Cheers, SVTCobra 00:16, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Let it be — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 05:54, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious....[edit]

Who was the person with Russian WN covering this story on their end?--Bddpaux (talk) 17:07, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bddpaux, authorship is stored in history. — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 18:11, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but: my Cyrilic is a bit weak. So, again: Who was the reporter who wrote the original story at Russian WN? Was it you?--Bddpaux (talk) 21:48, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Viktor Pinchuk is Виктор Пинчук. You could have clicked the link in the article to learn this. Cheers, SVTCobra 22:07, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

SE Asia[edit]

Capitalise region as 'Southeast Asia' per precedent? JJLiu112 (talk) 18:38, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I guess so. Ugh, I missed that. Heavy Water (talk) 18:52, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Title I'd recommend ditto. We've occasionally updated titles post-publication for grammatical/typographical issues. If an admin is needed @SVTCobra:. --JJLiu112 (talk) 19:42, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we just leave a redirect behind so that any mirrors or links on the interwebs still function. SVTCobra 21:05, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

@Виктор Пинчук:, obviously the images from your expeditions are your own work, but who is the photographer when you are in the image? I don't particularly care, but over at Commons, someone may begin to say it can't be your work because you are not holding the camera. They can get pretty strict over there. Cheers, SVTCobra 00:21, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

SVTCobra, All photos and videos in which I am present in the frame (both on expeditions and at events) were made by me — from a tripod or from a stable support.

Example2:https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:With_a_fridge_under_the_palm_trees.jpg (here nobody around)

I am more concerned with the images at the speaking engagement, as in the first three images in the article. I don't want anyone on Commons to have cause to delete them. We have many articles in our archives where this has happened, leading to {{missing image}} in our articles. Cheers, SVTCobra 22:22, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can certainly request VRT permission now, but I don't see any good reason to do so yet. The pictures with my presence in the frame are in all the previous news articles as well. I would have to burden VRT with a gigantic amount of work to confirm it. — Виктор Пинчук (talk) 05:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I guess we can wait and see if anyone on Commons challenges them. SVTCobra 06:02, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's been the same here for almost one year: Numismatic exhibition "Coins of the world" opens in Simferopol, CrimeaВиктор Пинчук (talk) 14:36, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
