The Minnesota Star Tribune is paywalled but creating an account can bypass it. If not, I can find another source hopefully. BigKrow (talk) 19:00, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

100 words minimum + paywall

[edit]

This article is close to the 100 word minimum but not quite there yet. Can it be expanded?

Also, there are plenty of other sources available to replace the paywalled source. If it supports some unique fact about the story that others don't, I would just remove that statement. If payment is required to view content, we shouldn't use it as a source. I know its a hassle, but it's to allow readers every opportunity to verify our work.Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 16:03, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Michael.C.Wright, how's it look now? BigKrow (talk) 16:37, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Only other concern is spelling of Benihana in source, Man injured in shooting at Maple Grove Benihaha.
Thanks, will this be an issue? I think it's just a typo hopefully they fix. @Michael.C.Wright BigKrow (talk) 16:46, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Most likely will become stale unfortunately unless..... @Michael.C.Wright BigKrow (talk) 16:58, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Better. I’d still suggest going through it again to smooth out the language. Some sentences read a bit awkward. For example: “Two men who possibly knew each other got into an argument that had one man shot in groin.” “Had one man shot in groin” is awkward and unclear.
We should attribute "possibly knew each other" as well. Check for similar statements of speculation, analysis, assignment of motive, etc and attribute them to strengthen the article's neutrality.Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 17:39, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've gotten a hair too deep to review, but I may toss in a few small tweaks. I think this one is close.--Bddpaux (talk) 19:25, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Nothing paywall'd on my end..... ?? --Bddpaux (talk) 19:26, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'll leave it overnight for others to tweak if desired.--Bddpaux (talk) 22:23, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is probably stale unfortunately by now happened on Friday. @Bddpaux, @Michael.C.Wright BigKrow (talk) 18:00, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

While detailed eyewitness testimonies are limited in public reports—likely due to the ongoing investigation—local media captured initial reactions from diners present during the chaos at the Benihana restaurant in Maple Grove on November 14, 2025. The shooting, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., interrupted a typically lively Friday evening meal service, sending patrons into panic as gunfire echoed through the space. Here's what has been shared so far:
Account from a Woman Dining with Her Elderly Father: One of the most poignant stories came from a female diner who was enjoying lunch with her 97-year-old father when the altercation escalated. She described the sudden terror to WCCO-TV reporters, noting how the peaceful family outing turned into a nightmare. "We were just sitting there, and then all of a sudden, there was yelling, and shots rang out," she recounted in a brief on-scene interview. The woman emphasized the fear for her father's safety, saying they ducked under the table amid the confusion, with screams filling the air as other guests fled. Her account highlights the vulnerability felt by families in such an unexpected public incident.118d2e11448b
General Descriptions of Chaos: Multiple diners echoed similar sentiments of disorientation and fear. Witnesses reported hearing multiple pops—later confirmed as gunshots—followed by people scrambling for cover behind hibachi grills and tables. One unnamed patron told FOX 9 that the restaurant "erupted into pandemonium," with staff shouting evacuation orders while the involved parties (the victim and suspect, who knew each other) quickly exited in separate vehicles. No injuries were reported among bystanders, but the emotional toll was evident, with some describing it as "like a movie scene, but terrifyingly real."2c4c115588ce
Authorities have not released additional witness statements, as interviews are part of the active probe by the Maple Grove Police Department. If more details emerge, they may come through official channels or follow-up media coverage. For tips or further information, contact police at 763-494-6100. Correction issued, not sighted

[edit]

The article contained two unsupported statements that have been removed (but not yet sighted) as part of the archival process. A correction has also been issued but not sighted. As the two statements were not core facts, a retraction may not be warranted (and I think the community is nearing 'correction fatique' anyway).

@Gryllida, @BigKrow, @Metropolitan90, @Wikiwide, @Bddpaux, as contributors and/or the reviewer of the article, let me know if you have any objections to the correction statement or actions taken (i.e., no retraction). Reviewers are free to sight my changes. I will self-sight if no one objects or sights the changes within a week or so.Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 17:45, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I accepted it. Probably not inaccurate but not in sources.
tip to @BigKrow
  • Each ai prompt should include link to sources and a sentence "use info from these sources and nowhere else. Do not make stuff up. If you think i must add another source, ask me first and show me the link."
general question
  • is it more aporopriate to remove these sentences, or to add a missing source, for a correction 😅
  • maybe it was from a paywalled source mentioned above, which could have caused initial confusion
  • it may take me more than a week. I have an overdue submission from october (2 pages) and from december (20 pages) which are burning my free time too. If any thing is required from me with a deadline, please leave me a message on my talk page, otherwise i may not help on time.

  1. Reviewers can't add sources and remain uninvolved.[1]
  2. Post-archive edits or article expansion (adding sources) is also forbidden by WN:Archive.
For these and other reasons, full and complete reviews are required, to include ensuring that "all information in the article is fully sourced."[2]Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 14:17, 12 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
1.1.1. ask a user to add a source and then you sight their edit. non-problem
2. will check it out, have no clue. maybe on weekend Gryllida 01:22, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
