Talk:Summer Streets returns with uninterrupted car-free stretch across Manhattan
Add topicOriginal reporting notes
[edit]I ran along the Broadway part of Summer Streets this afternoon in upper Manhattan to check out what was there. A good number of people, actually! I briefly spoke with DoT Director of Summer Streets Kenny Placencio, who was at the 175th St. "rest stop" with some other DoT folks. I don't know how many people actually attended—I would say tens of thousands, but maybe the DoT will say a few hundred thousand people came. There were certainly a few hundred thousand cones, if how the cones were spaced up here in northern Manhattan was consistent the whole way south.
Besides that, there were scheduled activities that ran, listed on the Summer Streets website. It seemed mostly accurate, but the Department of Corrections wasn't there on Dyckman St. so I dunno how it all panned out overall. A great day to have it, though. They couldn't have picked a better day in August! SWinxy (talk) 02:17, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

Revision 4872054 of this article has been reviewed by Michael.C.Wright (talk · contribs) and has passed its review at 14:53, 3 August 2025 (UTC).
Comments by reviewer: As part of the review process, several edits were made to ensure compliance with WN:NPOV (policy) and WN:Neutrality (essay), removing opinion, subjective bias, and first-person writing to maintain a journalistic tone. The article was revised to eliminate speculation about crowd size and clarify that this is the first continuous route from the Brooklyn Bridge to Inwood (not the first event). Paragraphs were reordered for inverted pyramid structure and neutral language was used throughout. Additional edits included adding appropriate categories, an infobox, adjusting image placement, and clarifying event details such as recurring dates and road closures. See the edit history for full details. The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer. |
