Fact Checking[edit]

Facts checked):

  • House of Lords Law Lords made the ruling [1]
  • Ruling mentioned incompatibility with European human rights laws [2]
  • vote was 8 to 1 [3]
  • Clarke did say terrorists will remain in prison [4]
  • Charles Clarke indeed 1st day in office, and Blunkett resigned the day before [5], [6]
  • Solicitor represents 8 suspects and is a woman [7]
  • Solicitor said she'll take the case to European court [8]
  • Liberal democrats mentioned that Clarke should use opportunity to reverse laws [9]

NPOV concerns:

  • Article seems neutral, with the use of draconian as the only iffy part. However this is not an uncommon characterization (the Herald Sun used draconian as well for covering this article [10]), so I think it's fine.
