We should publish it

[edit]

Please not delete this article. I cannot understand why it was tagged as abandoned, and sentenced to be delete. This stuff must be published. It has a lot of interesting info and the DELETION POLICIES are not meant to cancel articles like this. Instead, try further to imporve and publish it.--Erik455 (talk) 14:45, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was tagged as abandoned because people have abandoned it. People write about what they want/have time for. The best way to save this article is to try doing a little work on it yourself! Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 14:57, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

(We should publish it)Just so we can show we had a good timeline of events on this site.Soapy (talk) 19:17, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah it's ready, can we go ahead and publish it now? I don't know how to edit for so called style issues.Soapy (talk) 20:00, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
English Wikinews has too few contributors to have a good timeline of any series of news events. However, that is unimportant: the humanitarian situation is newsworthy in itself.
Before the article is reviewed, it needs more work. The article should say that the statement was made Friday, and also post updates (if any) on the humanitarian situation.

Bias?

[edit]

In the interest of fair journalism, should there be phrases like "The blockades, surely a catalyst for violent Hamas attacks," or "As the humanitarian crisis steps up, so do the bombings," or "As sewage and blood runs through the streets" in a news article? These phrases are markedly biased and do not serve to illustrate the headline, "UN warns of humanitarian crisis in Gaza" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.10.175.241 (talkcontribs)

A contributor's first article is not immune from criticisms such as yours. I have removed "and blood", as it seems to be inappropriate editorializing. The other phrases you refer to seem to be undisputed facts directly related to the humanitarian effects of the blockade. --InfantGorilla (talk) 17:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
