Who thought of that hilarious title? My compliments! ;-D -- Redge (Talk) 11:23, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! Now even in my neck of the world woods there is local broadcast reporting this. -Edbrown05 16:37, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Original reporting notes[edit]

We left for the Clark County Detention Center at about 5AM, and arrived to find three other news crews already set up to cover the story.

I shot photos of various angles of the Detention Center, and carefully listened to the other reporter's stories to get more than one source for the latest facts of the story. For instance, there was some dispute over whether Ayala was arrested at or near her home on a traffic stop.

Later in the day, we headed over to the Ayala residence and shot more photos and video there, which round out this story.

A video report is coming up next - I will post the transcript so there is a written record of what was said at both locations.

Question about the residence photo[edit]

I blurred the address in the residence photo, as well as the license plate of the car sitting in the driveway.

Other news outlets were shooting directly at the home for their shots so the address might already be on television today.

However, all of the other news outlets that I found were only reporting the nearest intersection, and not the street address. You kind of have to know where to look to find the address if you haven't been following the story closely.

So, should the address and license plate both remain blurred? Or is it in the public interest to override privacy concerns and post the unblurred photos?

Also, is it sufficient to describe the general location of the residence in the body of the text using the nearest intersection rather than writing the specific address in the text?

I listed the specific address of the Wendy's outlet on Monterey Highway in San Jose for the original story back in March, but Wendy's is a business, so I'm not sure if there shouldn't be different rules for a residence.

Any opinions?

I don't see any overwhelming postive use in publishing the address or licence plate numbers but can see negatives if they are published. I believe you were right to obscure them. DoubleBlue (Talk) 22:55, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
P.S. Well done on this first-rate reporting today!
