Template documentation

The **`{{Location}}`** template on **Wikinews** is a simplified way to add geographic coordinates to an article. It is not the same as the more sophisticated `{{Coord}}` template used on Wikipedia, though it some way serves a similar purpose.
What the Template Does
[edit]- It **adds geographic coordinates** that links to a page called 'geohack' that then link off to various external services
- It helps tag the article with **where the news happened** — useful for readers wanting to understand the context of an artical or dig further into it
Simple Usage
[edit]You take co-ordinates that are in 'Degrees Minutes Seconds' (DMS) format such as '40° 40′ 15″ N, 14° 26′ 26″ E' and break it up into its eight parts
{{Location|40|40|15|N|14|26|26|E}}
This will:
- Show: **Location: 40°40′15″N, 14°26′26″E**
- Link to geohack which in turn will link to things like external maps and location data
