why are there never any threads on wiki articles?

Here on Wikinews, we have an opinion space with a page for comments on each published article, and we do sometimes have extensive discussions there. Other times nobody chooses to comment on a particular article. Wikipedia, on the other hand, does not have a separate opinion space.
