They bang kids because they want to bang something, anything, and kids can be controlled and manipulated to keep silent and feel guilty. They wish they could get regular sex with a prostitutes, but that costs money, whereas banging kids earns them money.

If the Catholic Church gave a rat's ass about the "flock", they'd lift the celibacy restriction for the entire clergy, including the pope. St. Peter had a wife, but I don't know why I even bring this up, since Catholics think that their superstitions must always supersede the rational thought, whenever the two are in conflict.
