On Sunday, the US military or U.S. Central Command said that two Navy SEALs ejected and following a "friendly fire" incident over the Red Sea.
The pilots survived the downing, but one had minor injuries.
The two pilots were flying in a F/A-18 fighter jet from the guided missile cruiser USS Harry S. Truman when the aircraft was inadvertently gunned down.
US Central Command said “was not the result of hostile fire, and a full investigation is underway”.
The US had been in the region engaged in combat with Houthi rebels in Yemen. Central Command said Houthi drones were destroyed by US forces in the area previously.
