Trinity Church, on New York's Wall Street, began tweeting the Passion Play for three hours on Good Friday starting at noon. The main characters of the play tweeted their lines in 140 characters to each other. The feed was able to be delivered to both email addresses and mobile devices.
Colin Rowley, a media director for Houston's Bethel Independent Presbyterian Church, said, "It's going to attract new audience members, a target audience that's not normally accustomed to going to church."
A Passion play a drama that depicts the trial, suffering, and death of Jesus Christ. It is a tradition of Lent in several Christian denominations, particularly Catholicism.
