I am planning to interview several prominent or interesting journalists regarding citizen journalists and wikinews in particular.

If I get the interviews, I will list them below so anyone can add questions. The interviews will mostly take place on IRC, in a private channel. It will be voice-only, so to ask a question you have to be approved by me or just PM me the question.

Sue Gardner

Sue is the ex-head of cbc.ca, and before that was a television and radio reporter for 10 years. She now works for the Wikimedia Foundation, and is involved in the various projects including Wikinews.

• Hi Sue, could you explain what you do for the Wikimedia Foundation?
• What was your job position for cbc.ca, and what did you work on while you were there?
• Before the CBC, where did you work?
• Have you had much to do with Wikinews during the course of your work for the Wikimedia Foundation?
• As a journalist, what is your opinion of Citizen Journalism websites and publications?
• What are your opinions of Wikinews?
• Do you believe that citizen journalism sites like Wikinews should have an editorial review process?
• As citizen journalism increases in popularity, do you believe it will replace or complement traditional media?
• Do you think that sites like Wikinews are affected by Wikigroaning? Meaning, we get more news on things a relatively small group of people would like to read about rather than stuff a large audience would like to read about?
• With Wikipedia becoming more "complete" and the rate of contributions dropping off as it becomes harder to add new contributions do you see people migrating to Wikinews where - personally - I believe we have the problem of sustained contribution causing burnout.
• Can Wikinews remain with the Foundation, even if we have to establish a separate body for accreditation and contact handling?
• Can users who have edited Wikinews be respected around real journalists? Will they be turned down because they have written for an online website like Wikinews, which is not particularly fond of the mainstream media, and not traditional media?
• Please describe how Wikipedia's goals, which are incumbent upon no original research, work in tandem with goals at Wikinews, where original reporting is encouraged?

• Although you have an account on the english wikinews (User:SueGardner), you have never edited. One would assume that as a journalist you would use this project. Is there any main reason you don't edit here or do you just not have time?

• What do you think of the latest Wikimania conference and about next year's location?

• A lot of attention has been given to improving Wikipedia. Do you think more attention is needed for the other projects?

• The mediawiki software has seen many improvements. Do you think it could benefit from developers focused on the needs of the other Wikimedia projects?

• As more books improve in quality on Wikibooks, what changes do you think are needed to make publication more feasible?
