President Bush has nominated Robert Davis McCallum, one of his fellow 15 Skull and Bones brothers who were inducted in 1967, to be the new US Ambassador to Australia.
In Bush's autobiography, "A Charge to Keep", he wrote: "My senior year I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society. So secret, I can't say anything."
Skull members have to give a complete sexual history to the other 14, which apparently helps to reinforce the extreme code of silence that surrounds the society.
The president's grandfather,Prescott Bush, has been accused of graverobbing as part of one of the activities of the secret society and the president's father is a member as well. The headquarters of the secret society is a windowless stone building in New Haven Conneticut known as the tomb. Alexandra Robbins, who authored "Secrets of the Tomb", claims it includes a Don Quixote figure,a devil and a pope with one foot in a white monogrammed slipper, resting on a stone skull.
"What I find disturbing about Skull and Bones is that it's basically the most powerful elite alumni network in the US," says Robbins. "It's essentially a form of nepotism that keeps the same people in power, over and over and over again."
Senator John Forbes Kerry is also a member of the society.
