Thursday, September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II passed away. The Buckingham Palace confirmed her death in a statement. She will be replaced by her son, Charles, Prince of Wales, who will now become King Charles III. While Charles' wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will now become The Queen Consort.

She died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her Scottish estate, where she had spent much of the summer. What is clear is that Queen Elizabeth II did not suffer from any kind of degenerative disease, but died of natural causes.

At the Buckingham Palace in London, crowds awaiting updates on the Queen's condition began crying as they heard of her death and there will be 10 days of national mourning on Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Queen Elizabeth II was buried at the late medieval St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, where ten other monarchs lie buried.
