hi, i've seen u create a few "Series of earthquake" articles. i appreciate the effort u've taken on them, but i think that calling them a "Series" is misleading unless these quakes are related to each other. a better thing to do would be to update an Earthquakes template, which can be used on the Disasters and accidents portal. if u're interested, i'd be happy to create such a template for u to update.  — Doldrums(talk) 15:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sure! i've made a start here and will move it to an appropriate place once i've formatted it. take a look at it and tell me what u'd like added/removed/changed. btw, u might want to consider registering. it's easy and has its uses.  — Doldrums(talk) 16:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it's up! u can update the list on Portal:Disasters and accidents/Recent Earthquakes and it'll show up on Portal:Disasters and accidents.  — Doldrums(talk) 16:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

129.7.127.183, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Doldrums(talk) 16:12, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

You really should take a name if you're going to make as good contributions as the article on suppression of science on climate change by the Whitehouse. A well-chosen username adds an extra layer of anonymity to your use of the site (unless you do what I've done and base it on your real name and put that in your sig). It depends what you want to do, and I do know choosing a good pseudonym can be difficult. If nothing else, call yourself TempUser183, that way your IP address will be hidden and in the unlikely event someone wanted to find out who you were there's the Wikimedia layer to go through before they get to your ISP - which they have when you edit not logged in. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment
This is the contributions page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account and/or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
