Re:Gmail Invitations[edit]

First, please create an account, and make a few good edits. I'll also need your email address on my talk page. Sorry for any inconveniences. Thunderhead(talk) 04:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I'll get back to you in a few days. 65.78.87.120 16:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

65.78.87.120, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Doldrums(talk) 05:14, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

please do not vandalise[edit]

Hello,

Your recent contributions constitute vandalism and have been reverted. Should you believe that your contributions are *not* vandalism, please argue your case on your talk page, or in WN:ALERT.

Further vandalism will result in a 24 hour ban. Please contribute to Wikinews in a constructive fashion instead.

Could you please tell me what I did? 65.78.87.120 16:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will assume that this is the edit in question: [1] --Skenmy(tcwi) 16:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Got me? I don't know, mabey someone else on my LAN did it? Any how, sorry for the problem, I'll look into it. 65.78.87.120 16:54, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
May I suggest creating a user account so that vandal edits are not attributed to you? You are currently only identified by your IP address - hence anyone on your LAN looks the same as you. --Skenmy(tcwi) 16:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comment
This is the contributions page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account and/or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
