Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

71.197.8.9, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 06:49, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser accusations[edit]

I disagree with your assertion that CheckUser is abused, do you have any evidence to back this up? --Brian McNeil / talk 09:13, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you know, the only information given is whether multiple accounts share an IP. The privacy policy allows this for site abusers. TheFearow 09:29, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Privacy is abused. -71.197.8.9 09:41, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Freedom of the press, including NPOV fuckers.
Privacy is different online - due to the nature of the web, one can never be truly private. TheFearow 06:10, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, interesting infoo_box at the bottom of this page. 71.197.8.9 07:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Policy[edit]

Policy does not get changed unless its discussed and or voted upon by the community. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 07:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I misread what you did therefore I reverted my revert. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 07:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I probably will launch a dispute against oversight, regards. Edbrown05
How old are you? If you are over 18, you could apply to the foundation to get access to check the oversight logs and check for yourself if its abused. TheFearow 06:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uhmm, I got to 3 fingers. Does that count? -71.197.8.9

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikinews pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four w:tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the w:Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you!
