Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Zeest(Talk)(Newpages) 14:05, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

what cha doin'?[edit]

category this, category that. -Edbrown05 10:25, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some categories are usefull to offer news ordered by topic. I only use the main big categories and less as possible. I would merge day categories that appears in Wikinews (see Special:Category ) in by-year superior categories. Regards. --82.159.137.19 10:28, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm reequesting Wikinews:Categorical index be deleted as it jas categories we mostly don't seem to use (or should use), and Wikinews:Browse already exsists. sorry Bawolff :-)(-: 00:01, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I request maintain it and I erase the delete message . It is a common Wikimedia category tree. We can use Wikinews:Categorical index for category order and Wikinews:Browse for existing categories. --Mac 07:04, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
