I've added a cop-out on this for JD on the Egypt question. As her area of expertise is counterterrorism it may be more appropriate to let her pass that question on to someone else. --Brian McNeil / talk 17:25, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Visual appearance[edit]

I've asked if there is a photo we can use, failing that - or in addition, I'll add the HRW logo. However the questioning looks a little dull. For ones like this how's about a "Wikinews" graphic? Markie has suggested our logo, but I think a couple of graphics, one to emphasise it is a group effort where Wikinews is written in full, and a slightly stylised one which is either a W or WN. These would precede the questions. Thoughts? --Brian McNeil / talk 17:45, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphic: That looks cool. And looks much nicer then our other small logos for this sort of thing(, favicon, ). Other thoughts on this: is having the letter be light blue good readability, and W vs WN as initials?
Now the responses look a little plain, so i made {{WNI response|initials}} (for example ((ME)) ). Thats just a rough draft, still needs to be checked for working in all browsers/resolutions, and the colour needs to be matched (right now its a dark aqua colour). Whats do you think about styling the response initials like that, or should we just do wikinews so it stands out? Bawolff 00:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think putting responses next to a wikinews logo would be confusing. But perhaps in a different color? --SVTCobra 00:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can't we use stuff from their website? According to their permissions they are by-nc-nd-3.0. So while we can't upload to Commons we can certainly use the images here. Here's their photo gallery. [1] --SVTCobra 18:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just bear in mind, we can only use there images if they fall under fair use. we can no longer just generally use non-commercial images (due to foundation policy). Bawolff 00:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree, I am not suggesting using the images for anything except for this interview, and then it should still be only one or two that are germane to the topic of this interview. I would also caution that many of the images in their gallery are from newswires, and those cannot be used. --SVTCobra 00:24, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If we are using any graphical bit for the responses it can't be the same colour as the WN logo, and I don't think it should use the waves. perhaps [[ initials ]]? --Brian McNeil / talk 08:36, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, we could use french style quotes «Initials» Bawolff 01:35, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OR notes[edit]

HRW[edit]

As stated in the article, HRW press responded and forwarded contact details for Jennifer, CCing her on the mail. Further to that I used the contact address to send on the conformation of SOP authenticity to her when received from Camp Delta. This prompted a rapid response, and offer to answer questions. I sincerely hope we've not abused that offer with the number asked, but I have pointed out our and HRW licenses are compatible and they can republish the final article. --Brian McNeil / talk 09:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

James Yee[edit]

James Yee was forwarded a copy of the 2004 SOP on request, I thought we'd lost him until we got the email back that has been used to write the second paragraph. All accredited reporters should have seen this and be able to vouch for accuracy. Some minor grammatical aspects of the quote were corrected per James' request and he was forwarded a copy of the paragraph where mentioned. His response was "Good". --Brian McNeil / talk 09:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Status[edit]

What is the status of this interview? Should we send a polite reminder when we hit one month from when the questions where sent (assuming they haven't responded)? --SVTCobra 23:46, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dead, questions are now dated. --Brian McNeil / talk 09:21, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should it be put up for deletion then? --SVTCobra 00:57, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
