Welcome[edit]
Kevinprior~enwikinews, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

WWE Championship[edit]
Kevin, can you please stop posting that page? This is not Wikipedia — Wikinews should only be used for news events. If you have wrestling-related news, feel free to post it. —this is messedrocker

Linking to Wikipedia[edit]
You can link to wikipedia by inserting a "w:" before the link. For example: [[w:Charles Scott Leonard|]] will link to the Wikipedia article on Charles Scott Leonard.
You should note that Wikinews is not a webhost -- much of the information on your user page appears to be "stored" there and does not relate to the Wikinews project. I don't personally care, but you might find somewhere else to keep it. There are free Wiki alternatives that you can use on your own home computer including my current favorite TiddlyWiki. Please let me know if I can assist you further. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:03, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- User page seems like a WWE information page. Is there any reason for making your userpage explicitly providing information relevant to WWE? WIkinews is NOT a webhost, the user page is used for user profiles. Zer T 22:50, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- To repeat what Chiacomo and Zer T said, we are not an advertising network or webhost. You're allowed to keep some personal information, a link to your website maybe, as long as you're contributing to wikinews. However you shouldn't keep the entire webpage here. I would ask that you remove this content from your userpage. Bawolff ☺☻ 23:17, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Kevinprior 23:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC) I took of my website info. Is this ok?? Where should I put this page??
- We need not repeat ourselves. Wikinews IS NOT a webhost. You cannot place such information on wikinews. Wikinews is here to provide news articles and not "personal websites", "advertsement" or "webhost". If you are trying to gain user views for your website then please google "link exchange". This will be my last warning to you as a non-admin. Failure to do so will result in consequences from administrators. Zer T 23:57, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
One more chance[edit]
If you continue to use Wikinews as a personal website, you will be banned from editing. We are here to write news articles. —this is messedrocker

- I removed the #REDIRECT tag that was on the userpage. Thunderhead(talk) 03:43, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Kevinprior. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Kevinprior~enwikinews that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
