From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!

Hi Ronan... welcome to Wikinews Australia! I see that you've joined the Federal politics project. This is an exciting project, an attempt to completely bypass the mainstream media, generating news content solely based on original source material such as media releases, transcripts, etc, and seeking comments directly from ministers. I encourage you to be bold... don't worry if you aren't sure exactly how to do something, because there are always people around to give you a hand. If you have any questions feel free to leave a message on my talk page. - Borofkin 01:46, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding photo's to articles[edit]

First you need to upload it. If the photo is licensed under a free license, then you should upload it to the Wikimeda Commons. If it is fair use, you should upload it here on Wikinews, using the "Upload fair use media" link in the toolbox (on the left). See Wikinews:Fair use for a description of what types of images should be uploaded to Wikinews, and what should go to the Commons.

Once the image is uploaded, you add it to an article using the "Image" tag. Example: [[Image:image-name.png|thumb|200px|Picture description here]]. Have a look at an existing article for examples of the Image tag.

Using images can be a bit of a hassle until you figure it all out. Licensing is the biggest problem - we need to make sure the image is appropriately licensed.

Ok, thanks, that helps a lot.

Welcome[edit]

Wikinews desperately needs more gutsy reporters; please give the project as much time as you can spare. Neutralizer 11:55, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
