User talk:Sir James Paul~enwikinews
Welcome[edit]
Sir James Paul~enwikinews, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- If you're interested in audio recordings, Audio Wikinews could always use more contributers
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Doldrums(talk) 14:45, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Arb Comm vote[edit]
Hi and welcome to Wikinews.
Please note that you rvote for the Arb Com elections is void. This is because, as shown at the top of the page
"In order to vote, you need to have been an active user on Wikinews for more than a month, and you must have at least 200 edits."
and you meet neither of these criteria. Thanks--Markie 15:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Could you also tell me why you "would" vote oppose for me, if you had the chance? And don't get me wrong, I want the position, I just have some real-life issues going on right now. --Thunderhead - (talk) 09:33, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oooh, so that's why? Nah, I do want it, I just have a load of real life issues to take care of before I run. I may run in July. --Thunderhead - (talk) 21:23, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Soldiers[edit]
Hey. I saw that you are telling the admins you do not think the British Soldiers have been released. Do you have a reliable resource that supports what you are saying? Have a nice week and god bless:) --Sir James Paul 19:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hey - thanks for replying to me. It looks like someone has fixed it now :-) I could give you lots of sources like this BBC article which make no mention of any release (as it hasn't happened yet but hopefully it will soon!). All the best. 80.175.130.133 20:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Sir James Paul. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Sir James Paul~enwikinews that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
