Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., announced on June 25 to Fortune magazine that he would be donating a total of $37 billion (USD) to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is already worth over $29 billion, and other charities. Buffett, at 75, is one of the richest people on the planet with a fortune estimated at $44 billion. Buffett previously stated that he would give a mass portion of his wealth away to philanthropic purposes in his will when he died.
