Wikinews/Wikipedia requests to cover campaign

Dear Sir/Madam,

On behalf of Wikinews, I am writing the press teams for all the Democratic and Republican hopefuls for 2008. Wikinews is a free on-line news source in 21 languages, and a sister project of the free on-line encyclopedia Wikipedia. We'd love to send our reporters and/or photographers to as many of your campaign stops as possible.

Many campaigns have made fantastic use of the web, with blogs, YouTube, Flickr, MySpace, Facebook, and a whole score of other efforts. Wikipedia has rules asking those with a self-interest in a topic to refrain from editing, leaving our site relatively untapped, despite being the 10th most visited in the country, and in the world as a whole.

Wikinews' writers want to help change this, by providing our impartial coverage of your candidate's pre-election progress. All of our reports would originally be in English, although our Spanish sister site intends to translate many of the articles for their site.

All of our reports and photos are available for free use under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license, meaning that they can be used for free by anyone, which can only help to add more buzz in the blogosphere.

So I am left to ask, would you be willing to allow our reporters the chance to cover your upcoming events?

Kinds regards,

Nick Moreau
