The USGS states that the quake hit at 4:37 a.m. (central time) approximately 9 kilometers (6 miles) northwest of Mount Carmel and had a depth of just over three miles. It could be felt as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
So far there are no reports of injuries, damage or deaths, but the USGS states that the damage could be light to moderate with isolated areas having heavy damage. About 7,000 people live in Mount Carmel.
