Bomb attacks in the town of Gwoza, Borno, Nigeria, killed at least eighteen people and wounded at least forty others on Saturday. Some sources have claimed that as many as thirty were killed. The targets were reportedly a funeral, a wedding, and a hospital.

Female suicide bombers are the suspected perpetrators of the attack. Borno State Police claimed that the wedding attack was carried out by a woman with a baby on her back.

Gwoza was taken over by the jihadist group Boko Haram in 2014, and although it lost control of the town to the Nigerian Army in 2015, the organization has continued to attack the town ever since. Boko Haram has also used female suicide bombers in the past. The group has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack. Boko Haram's actions have caused the death of over 40 thousand and displacement of over million people in Nigeria.
