From a recent traveler through Tibet. Everywhere I went the locals shared stories about punishment and torture by the authorities and kept saying things like "I can't say that. I'll be arrested." I've made contact with some sources in Tibet (though the attempted media block-out). I'm hearing reports of up to 200 Tibetan deaths. 63.231.53.163 21:10, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can the IOC please cancel the Olympics right now? They are supposed to be more democratic in return for hosting the olympics. Arresting peaceful protesters (which sparked the violent escalation) is unacceptable to a democratic/free society.--220.237.34.175 06:46, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Six Tibetan protesters at UN headquarter in NYC were arrested by the police. I guess the US is not a democratic/free society, or maybe there is legitimate concern when the protesters go too far with or without a permit in the first place. The threshold for "going too far" is arbitrary and you're welcome to debate that, but arresting is a normal, even necessary, procedure in a democratic/free society. --71.174.175.103 15:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If chinese goverment can't be loyal to its law[edit]

I have seen so many protester was injured and more than hundrends of them were killed at the place where protest was on full fire. I know its hard to get under control, but they dont have right to make gunfire on those innocent people of Tibet. So to speak chinese are very cruel to Tibetan people. They have tortured and put many protester behind the bar.Why if chinese cant handle the small situation than how can they gonna make secure future? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.94.143.49 (talk) 08:51, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
