Could a passenger turning on a mobile phone (in anticipation of the impending landing) have caused interference to the plane's systems? These things can cause interference on audio circuits: could the same be true of aircraft electronics? I wonder if anyone has done a mobile phone check on passeneger's phone records?

No; that's now widely agreed to be paranoia that really took hold after the coincidence on Crossair Flight 498. For more details see mobile phones on aircraft; in particular pay attention to th fact that trial schemes are now apearing whereby phones can now be used, as the only proven problem concerned how the software on the ground handled it. It is still supposed to be possible in theory, but in reality there is no known instance; in particular Boeing tried and failed to replicate results using the actual devices as purchased from passengers, but failed to.
