wow, finally a country with the balls to pressure the tv stations to fully change to digital, 124.168.80.40 15:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC) (User:symode09)

the UK have done this but have set a target of 2012 or 10 i cant remember which. --MarkTalk to me 16:10, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, we had a lot of hype about it when it was announced, which quickly fizzled. I can't remeber the target either, but we're so good at meeting targets, it shoud be ready several years late anyway. Oh, and Finland has the balls to do anything - and do it properly, too. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
In the US, the date is set at Feb 17, 2009 to do this. There is a bit of a debate going on as to whether or not this should be pushed back, as converter boxes aren't even in stores yet. However, Satellite and Cable TV penetration is so high, it may not even matter.Tuoder
As Blood Red Sandman said: Finland have the balls to do anything. I mean look at Lordi, they sent them as a laugh, they'd never won before this, and won! Also: Finland won the first Eurovision Dance Contest last night. I think the UK switches in 2012. Celticfan383 14:15, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Although they got pretty lucky with Lordi that they had a band mad enough to actually agree when YLE (big Finnish broadcast company) asked them to enter... They've set a new example, Thunderstone almost represented Finland this year, but came second. What I actually came to say was, according to Digital switchover dates in the United Kingdom, most of the UK intends to be done by 2012, but one little bit is holding on 'til 2013. Opinion (obviously)

[edit]

Somehow doing such things depresses me, the rationale given (Clearing up the spectrum) sounds like the reason they brought out IPv6 (Lack of addresses), and yet it's coming along VERY slowly and v4 is still used everywhere with no sense of obsolescence. 68.39.174.238 14:11, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Lol...

Hehe... Looks like this is creating short-term chaos for some people! Read this! Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 22:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
