As a past user of Windows 1.0 (Essentially Excel) and DOS I remember days of work wiped out because Microsoft Windows used expanded memory (1 MB). Still I obtained MCP, and avoided the cost of Apple products.

I am looking forward to a NEW OS that:

1. Prides itself on how LITTLE memory it uses. 2. Doesn't animate every process. 3. Explains advantaged and disadvantages to future optional upgrades, before they are offered. Is open sourced AND protected with a guarantee- if you have any problems, a new OS will be sent that replaces the old one. No questions asked.

I'm sure there a linux distros like that (minus the waranty). DSL, prides itself on being small, using just the shell, or something like Ratpoision as a wm animates nothing. Bawolff ☺☻ 23:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please restrict monkeys with typing skills to edit Wiki News. Just because google wants to call it an OS doesn't make it an OS. It's just another GUI on top of Linux.

Not really a new OS[edit]

This sounds like another desktop environment ala KDE and Gnome. The most important pieces will still be the GNU tools and Linux. what data will chrome OS be logging in google's database?[edit]

Google is well known for farming sensitive data like ip addresses, cookies and searches themselves when using their search engine. What information will google be saving using this OS?

I'm sure this has been mentioned already but we cannot be silent to google on this issue, they must hear our uproar and cease their data farming practices
