I'm glad at least Google will stand up and say this is bullshit. The last thing we need is Microsoft trying harder to take over the internet. Perhaps if Google cannot afford to buy out Yahoo!, maybe they should merge.

I agree with you that Microsoft should not take over the internet but having the worlds 2 biggest search engines merging will weaken competition which means the experience for the consumer will be of a lower quality. I think these are the 2 most visited sites in the world so I am not even sure of the government would allow it. I don't think they would here in the UK. --Anonymous10116:22, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft and others.[edit]

There's several ways to go about securing a "property" monopoly.

Nintendo is fond of licensing, and as a result, they've lost their dominance over the video-game console market.

Microsoft has been accused, and litigated against for bundling its internet explorer software with its operating system. Since then, both primary complainer Netscape and Internet Explorer have lost out the lion's share of browser use to Google.

As much as I dislike Microsoft, and tear my hair out with frustration when I'm on a vista machine and I can't do something because the retarded O.S. distrusts user-input and flat-out denies the administrator to change a file's read-only properties... I just don't see this as either a serious threat to google, nor a real gain for Microsoft.

The real thing to be watching is the XBOX 360, and whether or not Nintendo ends up getting edged out of the American console market by microsoft.

This browser stuff is just nonsense. If you want to use internet explorer and be barraged with a bunch of stupid ads, go ahead... but don't expect google to continue to maintain its current blankness. They have already added toolbars up the wazoo, just like yahoo did, and they too will be sneaking all sorts of unnecessary crap on your computer before long. An informed user can easily strip away these sneaky bits of code, but your grandmother's machine will continue to get clogged with addons and spyware.

Vista sucks, but Macs suck worse. If you care, go linux; if you don't, go mac. Everyone else should keep using XP until something better comes out. What browser you use is completely pointless. Go perform the same search on yahoo, msn, and google, and I'm sure you'll see the same sites in nearly the same find order. They all have the same features. I use google because I hate the tabloid-esque main page of msn. If you have another preference, so be it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.207.127.233 (talk) 20:15, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
