Italic textAmazing! Mankind can live on the moon for extended periods of time! A lunar base is next, followed by Mars. When (not IF) we destroy planet Earth, some people can move planets; and mankind will live on....
- I don't think that scant "traces of water molecules" are enough to support multicellular life forms (i.e. humans). Also, there's no atmosphere of any kind on the moon. Also, the moon gets closer to the sun than Earth's "Goldilocks" position (it goes between the Earth and the sun about once a month). One more thing: There's very little gravity on the moon, which would play hell on our bodily systems (muscular and skeletal mostly) because of the then lower resistance in various actions like walking.—66.110.233.67 (talk) 22:19, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Good points, all - still, it's a fascinating discovery, and on the off chance we do decide to set up shop on the moon, better some water than none at all. The estimate of about a teaspoon per a few kilograms (which I tend to simplify to 3) may not sound like much, but given the moon's total mass (about 7.5 * 10^22), there could be plenty of water to be extracted. How do we get it out? Well, there's the rub.
- LOL Water-mining! Seriously though, it is an unexpected discovery to me.—66.110.233.67 (talk) 07:58, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

i belive, why not we are trying to bring water from some planets, like jupiter, sub planets have more then enough water in them, bring some 250000l of water in 5-6 trip fill it in moon and find some miracle to happen, same for marsh, we need to take us to next lavel, stop thinking, just do it.
And see what new things have came for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.243.109.18 (talk) 09:38, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
other side of the water and craters on moon
[edit]These craters and the finding of water may have other side of the story also, since the craters showing the impact are similar and have some kind of uniformity ,which shows that they are made due to some water erosion on the surface . The regolith is having the contents of silicon and hydroxyl etc. which is said to be the resultant of some asteroid collisions, but in my opinion - there has been some bigger incident of water erosion ; there might be some hot water springs ,or some kind of hot lava having a huge quantity of water which has made the craters .Either this process might have been repeated several times or may have taken place due to some big inter action of some lunar incident.Hence ,in all I want to say that if we go in the history of making of craters the water is supposed to be the main reason behind their formation. And in my opinion ,there might even have been phenomenal water logging at some places on moon which will be found out later on after leaving behind the myths ,which we are having regarding water on moon. for further discussion/possibility you can call me on <personal info removed.> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.171.193 (talk) 13:07, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
