You Brits are idiots for not supporting the alternative vote. This is essentially a vote against democracy! —166.137.141.81 (talk) 01:25, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

What exactly were they voting for...

[edit]

Doesn't seem to say that what they were voting for was wether votes for *least* favorite should be counted as importantly as votes for favorite. It's a little bit more complicated than that as first preference will usually be unaffected by least preference, except in the case of a tied vote for instance, but it was something like that.

It's a pity it failed because people in general consider their least preference to be more important than their favorite, especially in politics, and this vote says in some small way that the people do not want their true preferences aired, or, they don't know the route to having their true preferences aired even when it is staring them in the face... Or am I wrong? Is the backbone of politics and public opinion not in that which people prefer least? I think it is obviously so. All political programs and gatherings with differing sides focus on avoiding the things which we do not prefer and pointing out past or ongoing mistakes. So for all those people who have been involved in protests in the last couple of years and spend some time regulary giving out about what they do not want to see any more of, and then turned around and voted against this bill designed to cater for you, you are your own worst enemy, you cannot see the woods for the trees, you are the weakest link... But hey, maybe it's not your fault... maybe you were led into the vote wih some arguement that there was a downside to saying, "Wait I really don't like that one!" Or something. People keep slaughtering sheep and giving out about how it doesn't taste nice. Maybe it was more like that. RTG (talk) 14:46, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
