not enough information for someone studying this topic

If you wish to know more about the earthquake, read the Wikipedia article on it. I think it is morally incorrect that you should complain about articles you read on Wikinews, when you aren't actually contributing to it.

The entire point of the webform is to give feedback. This guy's feedback is above. If we don't want it, why do we solicit it?

To the IP: I haven't looked at the article since it was published, but there's every chance there was no more information to give at this point.

Comments from feedback form - "seems to be written from a US ..."

seems to be written from a US point of view, very little local information; odd obsession with tsunami risk to US coast

Actually, that tsunami statement was from the USGS and what they said. The USGS won't report on local tsunami events, if there are any. That is what the local/regional geology offices in their respective countries do. To get local information from the USGS on New Zealand would be like watching the loacl news for Wellington, NZ, but you live in California. So, in other words, the IP was correct and the article is indeed slanted.
