Yes, it has many benefits, but it isn't nothing new, let alone a marvel of technlogy. Similar services existed for years.

Wow, if they can give you facebook without internet access, how long until the rest of the internet doesn't require a wifi connection?
Wow this is real great news, thums up to the developers , it will be a big hit in developing countries where most people dont own a high end phone.
From my understanding, this is just basicly using SMS with a neat api
