Probably a move from the church of scientology

I think the church is trying to infiltrate the group and making those odd moves to lower the credibility of anonymous. Anonymous is only concerned with the church of Scientology , making it odd they spread useless rumors on other subjects. Yesterday again , "anonymous" hacked the email address of Sara Palin , it has nothing to do with the church , unless the church is behind the move.

I have personally witnessed threads on their forums (won't say which ones) about these events. Almost immediately after Palin's email was hacked, there was a thread about it and the incident was dubbed... well... "THE INCIDENT". They are simply responding to the hilariousness of Oprah believing that 900 0 penisies are raping children. She is still alive and well, too many people in this world don't know how to take a joke.

Um why are you always blaming "anonymous" and 4chan?

What proof do you have? Further more, what proof do you have that Anonymous is a group. Anyone on the internet can be anonymous, hell look up the definition of Anonymous. So if you have proof that it is a group called Anonymous, and there are many, say that it "is a group calling themselves Anonymous". This could also just be one user using a bunch of proxies. Or a group of friends. This kind of reporting is what makes people get sensationalized. Your job here is to report news, not to make sensational stories that could possibly get you any kind of award. "Anonymous" as a group can never really be blamed for anything. The affiliation between different members is loose to not there at all, and at times they don't even use the same site. Obviously, a very small percentage of anonymous may have been involved in the hoax, perhaps it was only one person. It's basically like that episode of South Park where Cartman goes into a coma and dreams he's back in the 1700's, then discovers the founding fathers used democracy so the group (USA) could never be blamed as a whole for any given incident, as there will always be people who disagree with what decision is chosen. I think it would be more appropriate to say "The rumors are considered to be a hoax, connected with members of the online group known as Anonymous."

As for 85.146.78.141's comments about this being a terrible thing to do, you obviously haven't heard of anonymous before, they'll make you buy a dog.

I can't help but classify reporters that are focusing on "Anonymous" to be in the same class of intelligence as "Anonymous". The "We" in the popular Anon-phrase is a single person, the person who speaks it. However reporters decide to feed this docile creature granting it a bigger existence that it should be. Much like spilling water on a mogwai (Gizmo of Gremlins). A user does something immature, the media covers it, the user has a moment of self-gratifying fame, other fools join in, the media continues to encourage it... However due to non-internet-users and their limited understanding of the internet culture, the image of many of us is ruined by these limited individuals. If it goes far enough, it will probably attract attention of the government and lead to poorly informed and misunderstood actions ending in new laws that may hurt us. Now if the few fools were ignored properly, what reason is there to do it if there's no response to laugh at?
