I'm not so sure I like the idea of complete discontinuation of monitoring the signals. Why not make the digital version mandatory? Then there will be few enough others that false positives won't be too much of a strain, whereas those idiots who wish to retain the poorer device will still have a chance. It isn't a case where we have no sympathy for damage caused if they didn't get the upgrade - it is the difference between life and death.
