Wow! Another impressive act to keep democracy alive. I bet the judge was a North sympathiser. Or else he would see the importance of licking the US boots for any nation today.
You're blaming an entire country for the act of one idiot. The government handed the dude over to South Korean authorities for punishment faster than you can say tiffany-cup-cakes, and this American feels he deserves whatever he gets. Seriously, every country in the world has soldiers who do dumb crap like this, American troops are nothing unique.
If the soldier raped eight-year old girl, the court will provide harsher penalties because of it is pedophile act. If the soldier asked this teen for sex, if the girl given permission, then it is legal.
